Playland at the Beach, San Francisco, opened in the 1920’s and was a favorite of young and old alike until it was demolished in 1972 to make way for condominiums. Those who enjoyed it’s wide variety of entertainment will well remember Laughing Sally who adorned the entrance to the Fun House. Even though she frightened some with her laughter and movements, she has long been a favorite to many of us. I call this painting “Nostalgia”. Sally now resides, along with some of her friends as pictured here, in the Musee Mechanique located in Fisherman’s Wharf.
